S.E.A. Engineering was part of a team of designers and engineers working out of various cities in North America and reporting to a central office in Detroit. During this project S.E.A. leveraged the concept of remote collaborative design: The bulk of the detail work was done at the offices of the contractors and delivered to the central Detroit office by Internet. Digital means and conference calls maintained communication. Contractors flew to Detroit as necessitated by project activities and, as well, the manager of the central office visited contractor sites as required.  S.E.A. Engineering built three units of a prototype device for delivery and subsequent testing at labs in Detroit and other locations in the U.S.
